Fritag
So after about 8 days in this German speaking area we are picking up a bit of the language. Hello, Hello Everyone (to more than one person), thank you, and 1 or 2 sandwiches. These words are not German... they are Swiss German... for example Merci is thank you not danke as you might think.Anyway on our last day we didn't plan much. We planned to go to a Glass factory where people hand blow glass.
However, before we headed out we decided to take a walk. The rainy day yesterday make the sky super blue and clear. We could see all the mountains. We decided to walk up to the same place we walked up on our first day. It was a fantastic view.
After the walk we headed to the glass factory. They had a great museum for the factory. It started in 1817.... and still makes some glass today. It started making purpose glass but now makes artistic glass.... bowls, vases, and other artsy shapes. They have a
HUGE furnace where you can watch these people blow glass. Some shapes it take 4 people to make the shape. It was fantastic to see. Also, we noticed that OSHA would never allow this in America. The guys were in shorts and sandals with this molten glass... and even smoking as they blew glass.Next we went to get another quick look at Zurich before we went to eat our last Dinner with David and Jennie. We went and had fantastic tapas at a restaurant that looked on to the Zug Lake.
We have had a great time every day and have some fantastic pictures. We are very tired from all the walking but it helped compensate for all the eating we did. (There are these fantastic pretzel sandwiches that we have had everyday for lunch!). We got our gifts and we are getting packed to go home. We leave tomorrow morning! We are flying business class and it should be a nice trip.
