Public Transportation!!!

Today we went to Luzern. We got a later start and headed to Zug with David by Bus. He went to work and we caught the train to Brunnen a small town on Lake Luzern where we were going to take a boat ride. Jennie had offered us a ride by car, but we decided to let her stay in and we took the train. What a bad choice! We rode with every school aged kid in the country because they were all one field trips. They were loud and rude. They got off at a stop and were replaced by even louder and more rude children. After we got to Brunnen we had 1 hour before our boat took off. We went to a Cafe to eat something. We wanted some breakfast, but the guy only offered coffee. He was scary, so we both accepted. Eventually we got so me Kase kuchen (cheese and egg sort of pie thing). Usually Kuchen is sweet but this was like a quiche. It was expensive, but we were proud we were able to order and eat! After paying the bill, we went down to wait for the boat. There were a bunch of kids again... but they only road 1 stop with us. Bob's artistic picture for today is from our time at the dock. This was not the boat we took, just one at the dock.
The boat ride was on a large boat that goes across Lake Luzern. This lake is very big and the boat it the best way to cross it. The lakes are so big that the boats can cross faster than one could go around the lake....So it zig-zags its way from one town to another. We took some photos and relaxed at a cafe table with a beer. I had the beer... Bob posed for the picture. Already in Switzerland he has earned the name "Ein Bier" Bob so we decided to take his picture as such... Plus Amy wanted a picture of Bob with something Swiss. Here you go....
Finally, when we got off the boat we went to the Swiss Transportation Museum. This was free with the Swiss public transportation pass we bought on the first day. The transportation museum was really cool. There were all sorts of trains in one part. Probably about 100 different types from different times. Then there was an automotive section which mostly focused on F1 cars that they had. There were also some simulators to play with. I tried the drunk driving simulator... turns out it is designed so you can't go straight and you always crash! Then there was a 5 story building with planes and helicopters. Finally, they had the boats. There was even a submarine... but this is a land locked country, so I don't know what they used it for... Bob took many pictures here. I won't post them, but I hope to get them on Flickr soon! After the museum, we walked around the lake about 1 mile to the town of Luzern. This seemed older that Lugano. People were friendlier and we were able to get some lunch at a cafe. I must mention that food is VERY expensive. We spent almost $20 for our coffee and kuchen in the morning which felt like a bit of a rip off. This afternoon we spent $24 for 2 sandwiches, 1 coffee drink and 1 banana frappe. This didn't feel like a rip-off, but still expensive. Bob's banana frappe was fantastic.
The architecture in Luzern is what I would think of a little more typical Swiss. Overall, this was a very neat town to see. We finished the day early and came to eat with David and Jennie. We went down to the lake in their town to eat some hamburgers by the lake from some guy that seems to cook out of his VW van. This is not a typical guy for swiss, not is it typical food. It was very tasty!
We are very tired from our trip so far. We have decided to postpone our venture to Zurich and have a lazy day around the area. Jennie will take us to get some chocolate, we will meet David for lunch in Zug and then see that area before heading back in the evening. It will be busy, but we will get up even later than today and stay local!
