Expo in detail
The day of the expo early. We set off at 730 am to meet the people who were taking us at a a train station 30 mins away. A manager from work and his wife and two kids picked us up. He dropped us off at another train the "linimo" train. It was just another train line, just to the expo. It was elevated and slowish. The place was very crowded. We were shoved on the train and at the next stop more people were shoved on. This is when kids started crying.
It was very busy but Mrs. Kobayashi knew how to go through a backdoor. There is a part of the expo that is seperated from the rest. You need to take the gondola's to it. You can also enter from from this area and take the gondolas to the expo. Not many people know about it which was good because the entrance line was 1.5 hours. The gondolas had windows that became opique when we passed over a neighborhood. You can see it in my photos.....
We met up with another couple from TMC. and went to visit countries. It was really cool to visit some of the countries. It was so hot that i went to countries with no lines. I saw some places that i couldn't find on the map. Brian and I were left to look around for a while and we went to the american group. We targeted central and south america. I wanted to go to Cuba because as an american we aren't allowed to experience the culture. They were serving drinks in Cuba. I had Havana Club in Germany and it was tasty, so i took advantage of this opportunity to drink it again. It was just as tasty as I remember. I was also excited to visit the pavilliions because although they didn't speak english, my spanish is much better than my japanese. I spoke to everyone i could. it was nice to use my spanish.... i realize i know much more than i thought. Brian bought a very irritating hat. I will try to give you a link to see this cheese head. I will have to wait until I see him at work to get the link for it. We took pictures to be on the expo wide screen it is online... here and then enter this ID "dovobtuszhpy" The green guys are Kikiro and Murizo... the mascots of the expo.
We were there for ever.... it was so hot. We saw different cultures, fossils from human predissors, and mammoth fossils with hair and skill still intact. It was really neat to see everything.
The people took us out to dinner. We ate many different things.... beef chicken fish (with heads on!) most of it was tasty. the best meal so far. There was a salad with some suspicious items on top. I asked what it was and they gave it to Brian to take a closer look. I asked him to check for eyes... he said that things looked good. They gave it to me... and i saw a mucusy substans with little white eels (and black eyes) on it. I tried the mucus but not the eels. I didn't tell Brian about the eels.... i figured if he couldn't see the eyes needent know about them. Brian drank too much and became irritating. He does this thing where when people don't understand his english he repeats the same word over and over again... like they will suddenly understand. He started doing this to the children who knew no english. He would get irritated then when they didn't understand, maybe he thought they would just suddenly understand. Or maybe the Soju made him think that he was speaking JAPANESE. I am growing concerned that because he makes such gross mistakes so regularly and we are together that people will assoicate me with his behavior/ incompetence.
I was very tired after the long hot day, but I will have many memories from this day.
