First Day of work at TMC
So over in Japan Toyota is referred to as Toyota Motor Corp. TMC. It is a large campus of buildings in Toyota City. Approximately a 1.45 min commute (but about 50KM). It was suggested by my sister that I make a list of things I have learned and things I liked about the day.
Things I LEARNED
- Jet lag sucks.. I have slept 5 hours since Sunday
- I have learned how to get a train ticket by knowing the price for my destination
- Women in Nagoya where a lot of Navy, White, and Black (say hello to the Gaigen who wore pink and teal!)
- Fashion here takes many different roads (leg warmers! In the summer!...at all)
- I will be stared at at all times!
- A robot can play the trumpet
- I need to learn Japanese!
- It is worth it to wait in line for a seat on the commuter bus to TMC (very herky-jerky)
- Time moves slower in Japan
- Ideas need not be translated.... Working with CAD instructor without translator worked better.
- I need to eat 2 breakfast bars in the morning (thanks AMY for they yummy treats!)
- It may be a policy to get the new comers to eat the most raw meat as possible.
- It is okay to have the lights turned off and a Devil chase you with a plastic Knife at Gaichi Gachi
- breakfast
- the mirror sprayed with defogger right where I need it
- Seats on the commuter train
- Meeting about 100 Japanese coworkers....
- Rice is the safest meal.
- The first day is over!

Devil Dance? I think I need more explanation!
do you get to take a robot home?! You could really scare the crap out of lola with one of those!
If you're wearing the wrong colors, you'll just have to buy a whole new wardrobe. I think it's your only option.
