COH HEY
Here is a good one. Brian was telling our interpreter today about his experience at Starbucks. He went there in the morning for coffee. So he goes and asks for "Coh HEY" the guy didn't understand. so he repeats it several times and the guy finally thinks he understands... he pays for his drink and waits. The starbucks man gave him a COKE!!! HAHAHAHHAHA! He was up set because of course he would want a coffee.. the starbuck man should know that in the morning people would want coffee and not coke. HEEE HEE HEEE HEEE HEE!I am really hating it here. It is mostly because I am realizing I am going back to the same crappy place that I left. THe environment in my office isn't very good. I was telling ted that I would like to do some work would take more than a day to complete... he responded by saying that I shouldn't expect to design an engine when I first start. I told him that I didn't think i would be designing anything, just using my brain during the day, not waiting around while some guy i work with is being taught how to use a wrench for the 3rd time. I have been thinking about it and it irritates me because I don't think ANYONE in our group could design a significant engine part. At least not for a car I would buy. I just want to have something to do with out Dufus holding me back.
So dufus retook one of his tests today. He finished 10 mins early and was walking around all high and mighty. It took a lot for me not to bring him down. I was thinking that we have been working on these skills for 4 of the last 5 weeks and he took the same exact test last week, going over the answers and the methods to do it all.... and it was open book and the test was just doing things from the book. SO basically he could have just written them down and performed the operations. I don't think that this was a test of his skill, sure he put in a lot of hours but I don't think he really learned anything... just memorized how to do the one part.
I took my camera to work. which is illegal and i had to check it in... and that was an ordeal. But i checked it in and checked it out and took one photo of the main building. THere are 11 buildings on the campus with a test track going through it. Across from the campus is the plant area with is huge and I haven't visited.
I am getting ready to travel this weekend again. I can't wait!

ro, you are letting negative thoughts come in . Stop it. You do not know what will happen tomorrow so try tp enjoy today. I heard there was another earthquake in the area. 5.8 this time but i do not know exactly where. We all need to pay entrance fees in anything we do. Just remember your sibblings had to go to similar things. People will realize that you are ready for more and you will get soaring. It is tough to live in a foreign culture. Believe me, I know. C
I don't have anything quite so good to say, but I think it's funny that he would go to starbucks and just ask for coffee. Even if they had understood him, wouldn't the starbucks guy still need more information?
are you trying to say that dufus also has a stupid accent or was he trying to say coffee in some weird way because he thought the japanese would understand him better?
Try to keep your spirits up with the work thing...in the beginning they are going to lump you with whoever you came in with because they don't expect anyone to be of your high intellectual level :) (or his low one!!).
I bet if he'd asked for it in English they would have understood him better!
Hopefully you'll be free of the dufus sometime soon and able to stand on your own and be seen as an individual with individual ideas...
