Ahhh, the weekend

It is my last weekend. I am going to go to Kyoto tomorrow with Jan.... It should be a good time! It is the place I really have wanted to see... really old Japanese.
Today was a good day. I gave this guy who has been really nice to me (bringing me food and directions to places) a cake from zingermans with some help from Jan. He wrote me a letter today about how much he and his family enjoyed it. I really like this guy and was glad that he enjoyed the cake. It smelled SO good I could hardly give it up!
I completed my comprehension assignment today. I had taken good notes but it was still challenging. Dufus didn't start it until the end of the day. One of the engineers today asked about dufus if they knew for sure if they hired an engineer. it made me feel better. I also was able to ask our instructor if we could work on an extra assignment next week and he said he would help me :) I hope that when I get back to US I will be able to teach these things to everyone.
We ate at a new cafeteria... in the building from yesterday's blog. It was on the 14th floor and you could see all of Toyota City and the mountains by it... until the haze got too think. The view is supposed to be best in Winter when there isn't so much moisture in the air. The also had a better selection of food and they even had a salad bar and bread! Yum.
I went out wiht Jan tonight for dinner. I haven't been out without someone who knew how to speak japanese or knew what they were doing. Neither of us did, but we made it through... eating chicken wings, chicken on a stick and chicken meatballs. I think it was a chicken place but there was no ENGLISH anywhere! We ever were able to order water and drinks. It was a good time. I am quite proud that we were able to walk the streets and stop at a resurant. I took a picture of it.

Sounds like you're pretty confident and independent. That's great!
